At meets at ONU and Ashland

The Buffton University track and field teams split up to find success as the distance runners made the short trip to Ada for the A.J. Cody Invitational at Ohio Northern University, while the rest of the group headed for the Ashland Alumni Open to take on a largely Division II field.

At ONU
A pair of school records were on the menu for the Beavers at ONU, starting off with junior Alexis Cash (Gaines, Mich./Lake Fenton) bringing home a victory at 3000 meters in a school-record time of 11:01.16, breaking the record of 11:03.27 set in 2008 by Sarah Humphrey.

Bluffton University’s Low Brass Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble will perform a combined recital at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, in Yoder Recital Hall.

Conducted by Dr. Roy Couch, the Low Brass Ensemble will feature the chorale from “Prince Igor,” a romantic Russian opera composed by Alexander Borodin, as well as works by Mendelssohn and Gabrieli.

Under the direction of Dr. Andrew Liebermann, the Woodwind Ensemble will perform more contemporary selections from composers including Eugene Bozza, Marc Mellits and John Steinmetz.

You don't need to be ancient to recognize this building. But, you do have to be nearly 35 (at the youngest) to recognize it.

This is the 1911 Bluffton High School building. This photograph was taken before the current "old section of the high school" was even in the dream stage.

Where was it? Stand at the St. John's United Church of Christ corner of College Avenue and Jackson Street and gaze toward the current high school.

Somewhere in the mist, you'll see it.
