Second-generation owner; shop started by his dad, Tom, in 1983

Bluffton has a new second-generation business.

Doty’s Auto Repair and Alignment, open in 1983 by Tom Doty, will become Doty’s Auto Repair and Wheel Alignment, LLC, owned and operated by Tom’s son, Mike on May 1.

“The business will continue offering all the repair and wheel alignment services and great customer service we’ve always offered,” said Mike. “The only thing that’s changing is that Dad is stepping away from the business.”

In Scripture we hear of a time when Jesus was asked, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?”  The response was, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.”  While the one asking the question understood loving God, there was a follow-up question, “And who is my neighbor?”

Less than a week after the Bluffton University baseball team gift wrapped Ohio Northern a 10-7 victory thanks to five errors and eight unearned runs, the Polar Bears returned the favor with two innings of miscues on Wednesday, April 17. Bluffton improved to 16-15 with the 7-4 victory, while ONU slipped to 15-14 on the season.

Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park Distict announces three programs in May of interest to Icon viewers:

  • Area Horses & Harness 19th Annual Spring Plow Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allen County Farm Park. Horses and antique tractors will be preparing the ground for spring planting.

  • Wildflower Walkabout at Kendrick Woods on Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy the fleeting beauty of spring wildflowers, with a naturalist. This is an easy hike, but please wear appropriate footwear.

The Van Wert Historical Society hosts the 25th annual Ohio Lincoln Highway League (OLHL) state meeting Saturday, April 27. 

A welcome and introduction will begin at 10:15 a.m. by Larry Webb of the Van Wert Historical Society. 

Marty Thomas, president of the Western Ohio Chapter and of the Welsh Society of Northwest Ohio will give an update on the retrieval and restoration of a 1936 aircraft that accompanied Admiral Richard Byrd to the Antarctic in 1941.
