Note: A Charles Hilty confession. Sixty years ago this weekend Bluffton HS played Lafayette in basketball. The recordbook shows a BHS victory. However, Mr. Hilty, the official game scorekeeper, offers the following correction.
Who won the 1959 Bluffton-Lafayette boys' basketball game? The scoreboard (after some hesitation ) said Bluffton did 61-60, but the referees couldn't decide. One person who held a positive opinion from start to finish was Lafayette coach Bob Harter, who said Lafayette won 60-59.
Jim Carr knows something about snow removal. The retired ODOT employee did his share of plowing snow in rural roads over the years. The Icon caught him in the act on Friday morning, this time on a snow blower working a sidewalk at Lawn and Elm.
A young performer with a Bluffton connection will perform in the Saturday, Feb. 23, Ohio Has Talent competition, at Niswonger Performing Arts Center, Van Wert.
Raegan Cox, 14, a Miller City HS freshman, is the performer. Raegan performed at this year’s Blaze of Lights in November. She takes vocal and piano lessons at Krysti’s Music Studio, Bluffton.
She has been singing and entertaining people for most of her life. In 5th grade, she was accepted in an All-State Choir and performed with 88 other 4thand 5th graders at Capital University.
The library is hosting a NORWELD Dremel 3D printer for this month, for patrons to use. If you've never seen a 3D printer or what they are capable of, then stop by for a demonstration. Patrons are welcome to bring a flash drive with a pre-formatted file to print or choose from the selection of items available on the printer. Suggested donations are 50-cents per hour of requested print to help cover the cost of the filament.
