Artist shares about creating art in Feb. 5 Forum

Sana Musasama, associate adjunct professor in studio art, Hunter College, will present the Bluffton University Forum, “Time the Unspeakable,” at 11 a.m. on Feb. 5 in Yoder Recital Hall.

During Forum, the award-winning ceramics artist will describe the relationship between her sculptures and the challenging human stories encountered in her global travels. Her “Unspeakable,” showing in Bluffton’s Grace Albrecht Gallery through Feb. 22, features a collection of ceramic mixed-media pieces that pose an inquiry into the nature of violence and healing in women’s lives.

Campus offices and buildings will re-open 10 a.m

As the extreme weather moves out of the region, the Bluffton University campus will have a delayed start on Thursday, Jan. 31, according to the university Facebook.

Campus offices and buildings will re-open 10 a.m. All employees should report to work at this time.

Classes, practices and events will resume as of 1 p.m. The Commons will open at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and Freshens will open at 4 p.m.

Bluffton schools are closed for Thursday, Jan. 31, due to the winter weather. Greg Denecker, superintendent, made the announcement on Ohio Alerts at 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday.

Retired as part manager from Wagner Buick-Nissan

Wallace “Wally” Dale Basinger, 90, died on Jan. 29, 2019, at his home in Pandora. Wally was born May 20, 1928, in Riley Township, Putnam County, Ohio, to the late Homer and Ella (Badertscher) Basinger. On June 6, 1954, he married Mary Jo Hitchcock and she passed away on Feb. 16, 1963.  On April 2, 1965, he married Joan Montgomery and she preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 2014. 

Ron Epp and his granddaughter, Annie Steiner, are having a good time at the Bluffton seniors breakfast earlier this month. The next breakfast is Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the middle school.

Pickup will resume next week on its regular schedule

Due to the low temperatures Republic Services, Bluffton refuse hauler, has  announced trash pick-up for the rest of this week has been canceled.

Republic will resume normal service next week, according to Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator.
