The Bluffton University men's basketball team won a nail-biter at home over the Mount St. Joseph Lions, 54-53, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019. A tip-in by junior Isaiah Taylor (Yellow Springs) made it 54-51 which helped propel the Beavers to victory. Bluffton improved to 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the Heartland Conference. Mount St. Joseph fell to 3-9 and 1-4 in the HCAC.

Was retired from Allen County Human Services

Margaret Louise Risser, 90, died Jan. 3, 2019, at Lima Memorial Health System.  Margaret was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Gilboa, Ohio, to the late Amos and Pauline (Heuer) DeVore. On June 18, 1949, she married Louis Risser who survives.

Margaret had been a teacher and later worked for the Putnam County Human Services and finally retiring from the Allen County Human Services.  She was a member of Pandora United Methodist Church and the Mid-Century Club.  Margaret enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling with her husband.

The Bluffton Area Food Pantry, which is overseen by the Bluffton Community Assistance program, wishes to extend a huge thank you to Bluffton residents.  The Food Pantry has been blessed with generous donations and the giving has been kind and thoughtful.  The schools, churches, businesses, and residents have gone above and beyond to assist those in need in our area.

Right now the pantry is overflowing with supplies. 

Concert, workshop Jan. 11-13

Itinerant Bible teacher and singer/songwriter, known especially for his “songs of faith for small and tall,” Bryan Moyer Suderman of Kitchener, Ontario, will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St. All are welcome to attend.
