This year's performance Dec. 9 in Yoder Recital Hall

Rehearsals for Bluffton University’s 123rd performance of Handel’s “Messiah” will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 16-Dec. 4 in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall on campus.
 
Anyone interested in singing, from high school students to adults, is invited to join the chorus, which includes Bluffton students, faculty, staff and community members. There is no cost to participate.
 

Joel Wildermuth, a community and family outreach services associate at the Delaware County Library, will speak during a Bluffton University Alumni Forum at 11 a.m. on Oct. 16 in Yoder Recital Hall. The title of his presentation is “Beyond the Riley: Why Faith, Travel and Stories Matter.”

Wildermuth, a librarian and candidate for ordination in the Lutheran Church (ELCA), will share how a post-Bluffton course abroad profoundly impacted his life and shaped his perspective on global migration issues. 

A 2011 graduate, Wildermuth studied history at Bluffton.

The Bluffton University volleyball team dominated defending Heartland Conference champion Hanover College in three quick sets on Saturday, Sept. 29.

It marked the end of Hanover's 27-match regular season Heartland Conference winning streak and it also marked the first regular season win over the Panthers for Bluffton since 2010. The Beavers evened up their record at 9-9 (1-0 HCAC), while Hanover slipped to 7-8 and 0-1 in the conference.

The Bluffton University football team welcomed the Mount St. Joseph Lions for an HCAC battle on Saturday, Sept. 29. Fumbles and interceptions were the difference as Bluffton struggled to get the ball in the end zone in a 21-7 setback. The defeat dropped the Beavers to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in the HCAC, while Mount St. Joseph improved to 4-1 on the season with a spotless 3-0 mark in conference play at 3-0.

John A. Miller, 89, died Oct. 1, 2018, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  John was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Cloverdale to the late Ray and Flossie Jane (Shirey) Miller.  On June 3, 1950, he married Carrie Bauman Miller who survives.
