Make your pledge by Oct. 19

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce invites sponsors to this year's Blaze of Lights.

"The Blaze is one of the most beloved of Bluffton traditions. Our managers, sponsors, and volunteers go all out to make the parade, entertainment, and decorations a spectacular reason to be in Bluffton," said Paula Scott, chamber CEO.

The pledge target date is Friday, Oct. 19.

Where were you Friday at 5:30 p.m.?

Chances are you were on Bluffton's Main Street watching this year's Bluffton High School's homecoming parade.

The Icon will post photos and videos all week. Here's our first segment, from Jamie Nygaard.

Bluffton's next council meeting is at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, in the third floor of the town hall. Here are committee meeting scheduled in early October.

Ordinance Committee – Oct. 3,  at 8 p.m.
Pathway Board – Oct. 4,  at noon
Utility Committee – Oct. 4, at 4 p.m.
Street Committee – Oct. 10, 2018 at 8 p.m.
 

5.5 degrees warmer than most Septembers

Thirty days hath September. And, this year those 30 days were warmer than most Septembers past.

According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, the average temperature for September 2018 was 69.6 degrees. The normal average is 64.1 degrees.

2.96 inches – Normal average September precipitation

The high temperature during the month was 93 degrees on Sept. 4, Sept. 5, and Sept. 20. The low was 45 degrees on Sept. 28.

The emergency & trauma services department of Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has purchased materials for kits that assist individuals in stopping an otherwise uncontrollable bleed during an emergency. These materials include gauze, gloves, markers, tourniquets for both adults and children, and more.
