Bluffton University’s annual May Day ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, and will include the traditions of the crowning of a king and queen and the Maypole dance by first-year students.
Filling the roles of king and queen this year are seniors Andrew Hunter of Arlington, and Laura Galley of Indianapolis, Ind.
Starting Tuesday, April 24, Bluffton village service personnel will be cleaning the water distribution system through water line flushing, according to Jack Huber, village administrator.
Dr. Robert E. James, Jr., Bluffton chiropractor, will relocate to a new office at 142 Vance St. in early May.
He will continue at his current location, 546 N. Main St., until May 4.
Dr. James has offered a full-time practice in Bluffton since 1975. The practice will keep the same hours:
• Mondays to Fridays (Closed Thursdays) - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays - 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

(SPENCERVILLE) - Spencerville dropped Bluffton to 1-3 in NWC play with a 4-2 victory Thursday evening. The Bearcats outhit the Pirates 9-4.
Spencerville led 1-0 after just one inning but Bluffton got two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Brayton Businger knocked in a run with a base knock in the inning.
(SPENCERVILLE) - The host Bearcats peppered Bluffton by a 9-2 count Thursday evening in a Northwest Conference softball affair. Spencerville took a 5-0 lead after three innings on the way to the win.
(BLUFFTON) - The Pirate boys tennis team got wins from singles players Justin Haggard and Drew Wilson but fell 3-2 to Archbold Friday evening. Haggard improved to 7-0 on the season with the win at first singles. Wilson fought and scrapped for 2 hours and 15 minutes to win his third singles match, per coach Mike Hilty.
1st Singles : Justin Haggard defeated Erik Short 6-1, 6-2
2nd Singles : Christian Groman lost to Luck McQuade 6-0, 6-0
