Aimee Ritter, a senior, is the January Bluffton High School student of the month.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Jan Romes, local contemporary romance author has a book signing this weekend.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton, according to Dr. Christina Walton, store manager.
Romes's book "Charred Snake for Two" is the newest of the author's 23 books. Her book credits include:

A community chili cook-off takes place Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Bluffton Middle School Cafetorium.
This is the second year for the event that supports Bluffton Community Assistance, Corp., the local food pantry, with money and collected food donations.
The cook-off features 10 local chili entries to taste, plus sandwiches and desserts. In addition, free entertainment will be provided by Dancers Elite Dance Studio and Krysti’s Music Studio, both of Bluffton.
