BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University fans purpled-out Copeland Court on Wednesday, Jan. 10, as the Beavers faced off against their long-time HCAC rival, the Defiance College Yellow Jackets. Bluffton improved to 11-3 overall (6-1 HCAC) while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 4-10 overall (2-5 HCAC).
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s basketball team faced off against the other purple school, Defiance College, in a conference battle at home on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The Beavers went up by double digits near the end of the first half and didn’t look back as they swatted the Yellow Jackets, 75-47, to improve to 6-8 (3-4 HCAC) on the season. DC fell to 3-11 and 2-5 in the conference.
Vintage vinyl is in the Bluffton Public Library's display case this month. It includes a collection of classic records and album covers, both 45 rpm and 33 1/3 rpm, the 1960s and 1970s.

Bluffton Fire Department’s 2017 runs were very similar to 2016, according to Jon Kinn, fire chief.
The department reported 109 runs in 2017 and 101 in 2016. Kinn told Bluffton council that the department’s response to 27 accidents in 2017 was higher than normal. The 2016 accident response was 19.
Kaly Jolliff, a Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon's January artist of the month.
She has enrolled in Art 1, Design 1, Design 2, Art Seminar, and Mural Painting, according to Vickie Garmon art education teacher at BHS,
"I enjoy art, because it gives me the capability to express myself through many types of media," said Kaly. Following graduation she plans to study mortuary science at Bowling Green State University.
