BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's basketball team closed out the calendar year in style, winning a second straight McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 30. The Beavers have won three of their past four games while improving to 5-6 on the season. Illinois College slipped to 5-5 following an 82-74 loss in the McDonald's title clash.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - For the second straight year the Bluffton University women came up just short to a top 10 nationally-ranked powerhouse on the final day of the McDoanld's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. #4 Hope held off the Beavers by a 72-63 final on Saturday, Dec. 30. The Flying Dutch stayed perfect at 12-0, while Bluffton fell to 8-2 and had its seven-game win streak snapped.

David  W. Pugsley, 71, of Bluffton, died on  Dec. 30, 2017, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home, Lima. Arrangements are pending with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Service, Bluffton. 

 

 

Leslie  Schick, 63, of Bluffton, died Dec. 29, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Service, Bluffton.

(DEFIANCE) - Bluffton’s wrestling team took to the mats Friday afternoon in the Tri-State Defiance Border Wars featuring many Division 1 and Division 2 schools.  Deandre Nassar advanced to the meet semifinals in his classes with two victories.  Several other Pirate wrestlers are alive in the Consolation bracket as well.

Nassar, the top seed at 195, added two more pins to his undefeated season in times of :59 and 2:26.  www.blufftonpirates.com for the rest of the story.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - After a lengthy hiatus from Copeland Court, the Bluffton women’s basketball squad hit the home court for the first time in five weeks to face off against the Scots of Alma College. Despite slow starts for both teams, the Beavers took control of the momentum and did not let up, outscoring the Scots 23-9 in the second quarter en route to a 66-49 victory while moving to 8-1 on the season.
