BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s basketball squad hit the home court on Saturday, Dec. 2, to face undefeated Transylvania University. The size and athleticism of the Pioneers was too much for the Beavers as they handed Bluffton a 74-59 loss which dropped the hosts 1-4 (0-1 HCAC) for the year. Transy upped its mark to 4-0 and 1-0 in the conference.
FROM BLUFFTONPIRATES.COM - For three quarters the Bluffton Boys Basketball team had tough sledding on offense, getting decent looks but shots would not fall. In the fourth, BHS started converting and came back for a thrilling 41-37 victory over Leipsic to open the 2017-18 season. Kaleb Jefferson led Bluffton with 16 points.
Elisabeth Collins of rural Bluffton is currently in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at the University of Michigan. She is diagnosed with primary pulmonary arterial hypertension, a life-threatening illness.
As soon as she is reinstated on the transplant list, she will be listed as the top candidate in the state for a lung transplant.
She and her husband, Josh, and their 4-year-old son, Riley, live at 2301 State Route 103. Elisabeth, 33 attend Cory-Rawson schools for most of her schooling, and graduated from Medina High School.
Pandora United Methodist Church hosts a free community meal on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 5:30 to 7 pm. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora.
The meal this month is provided by Riley Creek Pharmacy/Pharmacy Solutions. The menu is sloppy joes, hot dogs, cheesy potatoes, veggies and dip, cookies, hot chocolate, drink and coffee. Santa will be here and the Pandora First National Bank will host crafts and cookie decorating for children.
Pleasant View United Methodist Church will celebrate its annual "Hanging of the Greens" on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7 pm. The service will include, readings, scripture, and Christmas carols and is open to the public.
The church is located at 300 Township Road 37, Bluffton.
Wednesday Advent services begin next week at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera.
