The library will host an Author Visit on Nov. 2 at 6  p.m. Come to the library to meet local author Dave Essinger, hear about his new novel Running  Out, join in a discussion on plot and find out what he is working on now!  This promises to be a great time for readers and writers alike! 

Advance registration is requested.

Copies of Running Out will be made available that evening for $12.

The annual Holiday Gift Silent Auction begins at 9:30 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 22 at 5 p.m.  This is a great place to check some gifts off your holiday gift list and benefit your library (and community) at the same time!

Each package has a “Buy Now” price, as well as a minimum start bid.

Anonymous bidding is available upon request. 

Bluffton High School boys' soccer team is in the regional tournament for the second year in a row. Bluffton defeated Kalida on Saturday in the district finals. The Pirates face Ottawa Hills in the regional semifinals Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Findlay’s Elmer Graham Stadium.  

Judith Ann Orr, 69, of Beaverdam died Oct. 30, 2017, at 5:59 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System. Judy was born Jan. 23, 1948 in Bluffton to the late Clarence and Norma (Bushong) Burkholder. On March 29, 1968, she married David Orr who preceded her in death on April 27, 2016.

Judy was a homemaker.

Survivors include a special nephew, Bryan (Casey) Burkholder of Columbus Grove and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Goecke and a nephew, Jeffrey Burkholder.

Eleven business have sometime special for you

It’s a big downtown Bluffton shopping weekend.

Gift certificate drawings, merchandise discounts, free gifts and free copies of a new children’s book take place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4, in the annual Downtown Bluffton Christmas Open House.

Ten businesses are part of a mailing shopper – the shopper is attached at the bottom of this story. Each of those businesses has special discounts.

Collecting pantry items and cash donations in November

“Several years ago, my daughter spent many nights in the Toledo Hospital Pediatric ICU. The Ronald McDonald house was a great place to take a break from being in the hospital with my daughter....I am so grateful to be able to give back to the Ronald McDonald House."

 

The Dough Hook is teaming up with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio to bring a Thanksgiving-style meal to persons in need this holiday season, according to Marlena Ballinger of the Main Street deli.
