David Voth, Elisha Bush, and Ryn Farmer of Bluffton are advocating for Issue 1's passage on the November Ohio ballot.  They are also leaders in the local Crime Victim Services agency.

The photo is of Voth speaking at the kick-off of Issue 1 at the Ohio Statehouse along with the founder of MADD Ohio, Andrea Rehkamp, and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien.  Voth and Rehkamp were Co-Chairs of the first Ohio constitutional amendment for victims rights passed by Ohio voters in 1994 by a 78% margin.

44 building permits reported

Forty-four building permits in Bluffton from Jan. 1, through Oct. 10, show $2,120,428 in construction projects took place or are underway in the village.

Of that figure $1,460,128 was for residential construction and $660,300 was for commercial and industrial construction.

This total does not include the Ohio Department of Transportation's renovation of the Bentley Road overpass.

The largest commercial/industrial project was filed on Aug. 23 by Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., for a new building with a $400,000 cost estimate.

Bluffton Cars and Coffee holds its final event on Saturday, Oct. 28, according to Adam Boutwell. The event is Masterpiece Signs parking lot, 902 N. Main St.

The event is an “informal gathering for enthusiasts and their cars.”

Saturday's free show is from  8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Boutwell said that it is open to all makes, models and vehicle years. There’s no charge to attend and door prizes will be given away.

Your final chance to visit Bluffton's Farmers' Market is Saturday. The market, located in the Citizens National Bank parking lot, will close for the season.

It will reopen on the first Saturday of May next year. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce operates the market. Hours on Saturday are from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Sunday, Oct. 29, is your final chance to tour Suter Produce’s corn maze. The maze and cider press are at 8250 Road R, Pandora.

The Morning Star cider press will also close on Sunday, however customers wanting cider should call first to make certain the cider is still available.

Corn maze hours are Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. The last maze admission is at 7 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults and $4.50 for students (K to college).

Hayrides and the corn train hours are Saturday and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m.

Tonight (Thursday, Oct. 26) is trick-or-treat night in Bluffton. It's the evening when hundreds of masked people pour into town hoping for handouts in the shape of candy. Trick-or-treat hours are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Here's a view of last year's Halloween as Melissa Knauss and her dog went asking for treats.
