He plans to pursue forensic artistry with criminal profiling in college

 Nicholas Markowski, Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon student artist of the month.

He has taken Art 1, Design 1, Design 2, and is currently taking Design 3 and Art Seminar.

His plans after high school range from attending Salem University, West Virginia; Tulane University, Louisiana; and Acadia University, Nova Scotia.

" I plan on going into forensic artistry with criminal profiling at the college that I end up choosing," he said.

CONVOY - The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team blanked Crestview 5-0 for a decisive Northwest Conference win Monday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 9-5-1 and 5-1 against league opponents with the victory. Clara Matthews and Laykin Garmatter each netted a pair of goals to pace the victory.

The game was scoreless for the first 30 minutes when the Bluffton offense began to find the back of the net.

Naturalist Amy Norris will update the community about the Moyer Nature Center’s new designation as a monarch waystation at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve

Norris will also discuss creating habitats to help native insect pollinators. The introduction will be followed by a walk to view the habitats as well as the preserve’s native wildflowers, shrubs and fall foliage. All ages are welcome at this event.

Entrance to the Moyer Nature Center at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve is 10625 Augsburger Road.

Presentation in Live and Learn hospital series

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host “The Science of Urology & You,” the final installment of the 2019 “Live and Learn” series. 

This community presentation will focus on urological treatments and robotic surgery options for urinary incontinence and other health issues.

Volleyball 
The Bluffton University women's volleyball team traveled to Earlham College as they began Heartland Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019. The Quakers were able to pull off a 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17) victory over the Beavers. Bluffton dropped to 4-16 (0-1 HCAC) on the season, while Earlham improved to 13-5 (1-0 HCAC).
