The Lady Pirates took a 17-9 loss to Arlington in stride Friday night, as Coach Gillett and the ladies mixed it up a bit.
The Pirates got on the board first, as Molly Lengyel singled to bring in Shannon McKamey from third. Arlington batted in two runs in the first to lead 2-1.
Mariah Welch started off the 2nd inning for the Pirates with a rip to center field for a double. Katie Palte blasted a double down third baseline to score Welch.
Twelve members of the Bluffton Lions Club complete the spring Adopt-a-Roadway community service project on Saturday morning, May 14, by collecting litter and other debris along County Road 313 between Hancock/Allen County Line and State Route 235.

"The Bluffton Lions twice a year, in the spring and fall, conducts this community service to help keep America beautiful," said Dick Ramseyer.
The Bluffton Lions Club chartered in 1934 by Lions Clubs International and has 80 members.
Bluffton University will offer five summer mathematics workshops for middle and high school math teachers and intervention specialists, beginning June 8.
The 23rd annual workshops, hosted by adjunct faculty member Duane Bollenbacher, are all three-day sessions, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Each workshop may be taken for 22.5 contact hours of Local Professional Development Committee credit, at a cost of $125, or, on a pass/fail basis, for one semester hour of graduate workshop credit, for $275.
Students who have completed grade seven or eight and an accelerated pre-algebra course are invited to attend the Bluffton University Junior High Mathematics Enrichment Camp Monday-Friday, June 6-10.
Led by Dr. Donald Hooley, professor of mathematics, participants will explore topics such as number theory and introductory cryptology, using pencil and paper, calculators and computer software in group settings.
The Bluffton Lady Pirate softball team brought home a sectional title Thursday, with a 9-5 win, in a tough battle with the Leipsic Vikings at Pandora-Gilboa. The Pirates earned just four hits, but were able to capitalize on 9 walks and 3 hit batters by the Vikings pitcher.
The Lady Pirates struck first, as Shannon McKamey was walked and Ashlin Gable was hit by a pitch. The pair advanced around the bases and scored on passed balls to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
