Several of Bluffton University’s performance groups will perform a selection of lighter tunes during the Spring Fling concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 in Yoder Recital Hall.

Brass Ensemble will perform selections originally written for other genres that have been re-imagined as brass music while Concert Band’s performance will include arrangements of a popular folk song, a Broadway show tune and a unique piece which mixes electronic and acoustic sounds. Both groups will be conducted by Dr. Roy Couch.

At 7 p.m. on April 22, BFR and Shifferly Road are teaming up for a benefit concert with all proceeds going to the family of Officer Dominic Francis. The event will include raffles, 50/50, silent bake auction and Romick Railway rides.

This is a family friendly event (no alcohol) with admission being a donation at the door. There will be a staffed childrens activity area provided by BFR.

Musicians joining the band will include Texas Two Band, George Baldridge, John Tadena & Crew.

Wednesday morning

A winter snowstorm on a small scale swept over town for several hours Wednesday morning. The snow flurries were accompanied by rain and colder weather.

Area high school students participating in the First National Bank of Pandora's Junior Board of Directors program recenty made a trip exploring both corporate and state government locations.

The junior board is made up of 25 juniors from Bluffton, Findlay, Liberty-Benton, Ottawa-Glandorf, and Pandora-Gilboa High Schools. The students meet monthly at the bank’s headquarters in Pandora where they learn about forming a corporation, business accounting, business operations, marketing and business forecasting.

April 18 snowfall cancelled Bluffton High School tennis, baseball and softball. Temperatures for the upcoming weekend are forecast to be in the 80s. Thank heavens!

The Franklin College Grizzlies put up runs in bunches en route to a convincing Easter weekend sweep of the Beavers on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Franklin, IN. Bluffton fell to 10-18 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Conference following its sixth straight HCAC setback. Franklin improved to 15-12 with a 7-3 mark in HCAC play.

Bryn Cisco (Lancaster/Fairfield Union) took advantage of a pair of Franklin errors in the fourth to knot the game at 1-1 when she crossed the dish, but Franklin stormed right back with six runs in the home half despite just three Grizzly hits.
