Wikipedia makes it sound like Ada is known for having the shortest name in Ohio. Phooey. Surely the top two contenders for Ada fame are, in alphabetical order, Ohio Northern University and the Wilson Sporting Goods football factory.

The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball team (8-0 BVC, 4-1 PCL, 13-6) went to McComb and picked up a win on February 11, ending their two-game losing streak. The Blanchard Valley Conference game ended with the score 54-42. 

The win keeps P-G undefeated atop the BVC standings with one big conference game remaining on Saturday, February 19 at home against Liberty-Benton (7-1).

Playing in Harrod, the Bluffton High School girls basketball team defeated local rival Allen East 48-42 in their Northwest Conference finale showdown Thursday night, February 10.

The Lady Pirates improved to 15-6 overall after the victory. Bluffton finished in a tie for fifth place in the NWC at 4-4 with Leipsic. 

AE fell to 11-10 and 2-6 in the NWC (seventh) with the defeat.

Delphos Jefferson captured the league crown outright at 8-0 after beating Columbus Grove 65-49 Thursday night. Grove and Crestview tied for second at 6-2, followed by Spencerville (5-3).

The Bluffton boys basketball team avoided an upset bid by visiting backyard rival Allen East to win 60-56 and clinch the league crown in a Northwest Conference nailbiter Friday night, February 11. (Watch the game at https://youtu.be/Oyavo7c29UE

With the win, the Pirates clinched at least a share of the Northwest Conference title, their first in 22 years. Bluffton is 10-0 at home this season.

The Pirates improved to 17-2 and finished 7-1 in the NWC with the tense win. AE fell to 11-8 and 3-4 in the NWC after the loss.

June 4 event on Cherry and Railroad streets

Blended Roots, 246 Cherry St., hosted members of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, February 11.

Manager Katelyn Gainok also announced that Blended Roots will be hosting the 2022 Bluffton Arts and Craft Festival from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday June 4. The festival will be located in and around the store including the surrounding grounds on Cherry and Railroad streets.
