David Wilson Travis, 73, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2021 at his home on Douglas Lake, Michigan.
Dave was born on November 14, 1947 in Bluffton, Ohio to Eloise (Kellogg) and Dr. Boyd Travis. He attended Bluffton schools, Culver Military Academy and graduated from Baldwin Wallace University where he played football.
Dave served in the Air Force in Vietnam and later retired after a career as a pilot with American Airlines.
On Monday mornings in November, the kitchen at the non-profit Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N Main St., is turned into a candy factory. Dozens of volunteers are enlisted to make hundreds of pounds of peanut brittle, to stock the center’s largest single fundraiser. It’s hot, hard work, but the conversation and energy level are lively.
Through November, the glass case next to the circulation desk at the Bluffton Public Library will display historical Native American items of dress and everyday living from local resident Gary Wetherill.
The Bluffton Fire Department will hang lighted garlands on downtown Bluffton store fronts on Wednesday, November 10. Businesses should have garlands placed outside by 5:00 p.m that day.
Light pole garlands will be completed on Saturday, November 13.
Michael Kent Mathewson, age 64, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 4, 2021 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Mike reported to work on Wednesday, November 3rd and returned home following a productive day, only to suffer from a massive brain aneurysm later in the evening. He died a few hours later as a result of his unknown health condition.
