At the Bluffton council meeting of October 11, the Bluffton Police Department honored five officers with service awards ranging from five to thirty years. Officers Troy Hartzog, Officer Charles “Ed” Montgomery, Officer Nathan Jordan, Lt. Matthew Oglesbee, and Corporal Lonny Kent were presented with certificates and plaques commemorating their awards.

The Hilty Family Farm is happy to have sweet corn at the Bluffton Farmers Market in October. The market continues through the end of October at 102 S. Main, Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

The Bluffton Icon will feature information on the four candidates running for three seats on the Bluffton School Board of Education in the November 2 General Election: Bradley J. Dailey, Mitch Giesige, Roni L. Kaufman and Wesley L. Klinger.

Nature Walk at Motter Metro Park: Enjoy the sights and sounds of an early fall evening in the prairie as you go on a Nature Walk at Motter Metro Park led by Naturalist Dan Hodges of Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. Meet at the park, and be sure to dress for the weather and ground conditions.

This program is geared for adults, but children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. A minimum number must register in order for Bluffton Public Library to hold this program.
