The Bluffton University women's soccer team secured their first victory of the season when they welcomed Olivet College to the Sears Athletic Complex on a beautiful Friday, Sept. 3. The Beavers were able to hold off the Comets late in the second half, en route to a 2-1 victory. Bluffton improved to 1-1 on the season, while Olivet fell to 0-1.

The Bluffton University volleyball team dropped a three-setter in the 2021 Sommer Center Spiketacular on Friday, Sept. 3. The Beavers fell to 1-1 on the season, while Heidelberg stays perfect at 2-0.

The home team came out on fire in the opener, going up 4-0 on the strength of Courtney Weekley's (Butler/Clear Fork) laser-like serving. Heidelberg responded with a litany of kills and service aces, outscoring Bluffton 25-7 the rest of the way for a convincing 25-11 victory. The Student Princes followed that up with 25-19 and 25-23 victories en route to the sweep.

The visiting Bluffton girls soccer team led most of the way but ended up losing a 3-2 nailbiter at Van Buren Thursday evening, September 2.

The Lady Pirate kickers dropped to 2-2 after the non-conference defeat. The Lady Black Knights improved to 4-2 with the come-from-behind win.

Bluffton's Reagan Mittendorf netted both Pirate goals. She put the Pirates on the board in the 15th minute on a Riley Eachus assist, and the Pirates carried that 1-0 lead into halftime.

The host Bluffton boys soccer squad suffered its first loss of the season 4-3 to Perrysburg Thursday night, September 2, under the lights at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirates dropped to 3-1 overall with the non-league defeat. The perennial Div. II power Yellow Jackets improved to 4-2 after the win.

Perrysburg built a 4-1 lead and then staved off a late Pirate rally to preserve the victory.

Yellow Jacket Noah Jones began the scoring with a goal 14:42 into the fray.

Teammate Alex Diaz doubled the lead to 2-0 with another score at the 28:02 mark.

The visiting Bluffton volleyball team led early and held off a rally to defeat Defiance Ayersville in a tough five-set non-league match Thursday night, September 2.

The Pirate girls improved to 3-2 after the 25-15, 25-19, 22-25, 19-25, 15-6 victory. Meanwhile, Ayersville fell to 2-3 with the close defeat.

Senior middle hitter Kylie Stackhouse led the Pirates with 23 kills and five blocks. Freshman middle Ayla Grandey contributed 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Haelynn Bischoff and Skyler Scoles each knocked down six kills.
