Host Bluffton lost its girls tennis home opener to Shawnee Tuesday, 5-0. 

The Lady Pirates dropped to 0-2 with the defeat. Shawnee won all 10 sets and took 60 of the 70 games in the match.

Visiting Bluffton defeated Kenton 4-1 in a girls tennis match Thursday evening.

The Lady Pirate netters improved their record to 1-2 with their first victory of the season.

Bluffton sophomore Brooke Camper defeated Wildcat senior Grace Collins at first singles 6-2, 6-1.

Pirate sophomore Caitlyn Couch also won a straight-sets match over Emma Mulligan at second singles by a 6-2, 6-4 score.

Pirate seniors Ellie Nickel and Libby Frazier swept to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first doubles.

Marilyn J. Beckler, 89, passed away August 11, 2021 Lima Memorial Health System.  Marilyn was born March 23, 1932 in Pandora to the late George and Naomi (Crawford) Shoemaker.  On July 20, 1958 she married John Beckler who preceded her in death on March 14, 2014. 

Twelve new bike racks have been installed at five businesses. The new racks can be found at Board & Brush, the Post Office, Twisted Whisk Cafe, Et Cetera Shop, and Family Dollar.
