Visiting Bluffton lost 5-0 at Celina in the girls tennis season opener Monday evening.

Lady Pirate Sophomore Brooke Camper dropped a tough three-setter at first singles in a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker 4-6, 7-6, 10-3.

Pirate sophomore Caitlyn Couch also lost a close three-set battle at second singles by an 0-6, 6-2, 7-5 count.

Sophomore Alyssa Hoffman succumbed in a straight-sets match at third singles.

Pirate seniors Ellie Nickel and Libby Frazier lost at first doubles in two sets.

Committee meeting and council meetings set

This week's Music in the Alley features Jeff and Marlyce Gundy. They will be performing from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Their genre includes Folk, Americana, and a little Rock. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The Bluffton Relay for Life will be held on August 20 at Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The schedule of events includes a survivor meal, silent auction, pie auction, games for kids, and more.

The host Bluffton golf team teed off the 2021 season by finishing fourth at the eight-team Pirate Invitational Friday.

Ottoville captured the team crown at the Bluffton Golf Course with a score of 319, 18 strokes ahead of second-place Upper Sandusky (337).

Columbus Grove took third (347), while Bluffton totaled 358 atrokes. Pandora-Gilboa finished fifth with a score of 367.
