The Bluffton Bucs midget football is back on track like the teams in the early 1990s.
The Bucs entered into the Junior Buckeye League four years ago, playing against teams from NWCC, BVC, NWC and WBL conferences.
This year’s season started out strong with both the 3rd and 4th grade JV team and the 5th and 6th grade Varsity team winning their opening games by shutout.
Shylee Kaufman, Morgan Fruchey and Aryonne Baxter, Bluffton seventh graders, are this year’s Bluffton Lions Club peace poster contest winners.
They were introducted with their posters to Lions members on Nov. 20. Nicole Anderson is the middle school art teacher.

John Harold Koch, 83, of Waterville, Ohio, died Nov. 21, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. John was born June 3, 1935, to Harold Edwin and Mabel (Althaus) Koch in Toledo. He spent his childhood in Bluffton and Waterville. He graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1953. John married Joan Eleanor (Turner) and they were married 58 years. John graduated from the University of Toledo with a B.S. in Business.
Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, John served in the 9th Cav, 1st Cavalry Division as a radio operator on the DMZ in Korea.
Enedina "Nina" Scoles, 76, died Nov. 24, 2018, at Defiance Hospice Inpatient Center. Nina was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Silviano and Soledad (Chapa) Lara. She married Walter Scoles and he died on Dec. 28, 2002.
Nina worked at the Putnam County Health Department as a registrar. She was an active member of the Fountain of Life Church in Leipsic.
