He was active in the greater church on teams and committees of the United Church of Christ

Rev. Donald Rock, 81, died Aug. 11, 2018, at Willow Ridge – Betty House, in Bluffton.  Don was born Oct. 10, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Clayton L. and Dorothy (Vollman) Rock.  On June 7, 1958, he married Shirley (Derringer) Rock and she survives.

Donald graduated from Camp Hill High School in Pennsylvania in 1955, Heidelberg College in 1959, and Methodist Theological Seminary in 1994.

He served in the U.S. Army, Fort Knox, Kentucky, in Armor Training Headquarters.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 382 – Bluffton, serving as Chaplain.

Blanchard Valley Hospital "Live and Learn" Series

Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH) will host “Eliminate Acid Reflux, Heartburn and GERD,” part of the “Live and Learn” series, to educate the community about ways to remove acid reflux, heartburn and GERD through the new LINX procedure. 

This event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium of BVH and led by the experienced surgeon Jessica Reynolds, MD from Surgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System.

Donald Rock,  81 of Bluffton died Aug. 11, 2018, at the Betty House of Willow Ridge in Bluffton.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. 

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has recently expanded its medical practices by developing an obstetrics and gynecology office in Fostoria, Ohio. This new practice will be called Blanchard Valley Obstetrics & Gynecology and located at 617 N. County Line St., Suite B, Fostoria. This location will open its doors in early September.

FROM ADA ICON - The 105th running of the Ada Farmers and Merchants picnic will take place Saturday at Ada War Memorial Park.

The F&M is one of the longest running festivals/fairs in Ohio. It’s a day to picnic and enjoy many activities throughout the day with family and friends.

Performance by Riley Creek Singers

Cast members, from left, Jackson Ridge, Zane Traxler, Nick Norton, Megan Sycks, Sarah Schutz, and Amelia Arthur, make final preparations for this weekend’s Riley Creek Singers performance of  “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Pandora-Gilboa school auditeria. Performance times are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are available at Riley Creek Pharmacy, Pandora. Tickets are $15. Kevin Augsburge is the stage director and Craig Van Rentergham, music director.
