Appoints new members, approves endowed scholarship

The Bluffton University Board of Trustees recognized three outgoing board members, welcomed two new members and approved a newly endowed scholarship during the trustees’ spring meeting in June.  

David Baumgartner ’82, of Berne Ind., was commended for serving 22 years as a trustee. Appointed to the board in 1996, Baumgartner served the maximum 12 years as a representative of Central District Conference of Mennonite Church USA. He has served as an at-large appointee of the board since 2008. 

3rd place at WOAL plus several new records set

The Bluffton Sardine swim team finished an impressive third place in the Western Ohio Aquatic League championship meet held this weekend in Wapakoneta.

Nearly two-thirds of Bluffton swimmers improved their times since the start of the season.

In an age group breakdown Bluffton placed 1st in the 6 and under and 7-8 short free and short back, and won the combined 8 and Under age group.

The Kenton High School tennis program will hold a two-day tournament Saturday and Sunday, July 28-29, at the Kenton High School tennis courts.

The event is a fund-raiser for the tennis program. The schedule follows:

Saturday, July 28

Matches start at 9 a.m. – middle school singles, high school and adult singles

Sunday, July 29

Matches start at 9 a.m. - Elementary singles, high school doubles, adult doubles

Final events on Saturday in Wapak

Bluffton Sardines swim team is in a sold third place after the first day of the Western Ohio Aquatics League champships in Wapakoneta.

A $25,000 grant will help Bluffton University implement a new, high-impact learning experience for sophomore students.

The NetVUE Vocation Across the Academy Grant will allow Bluffton to pilot and implement a 5-credit-hour course called Learning in Community.
