Just ask these nine organizations inviting volunteers to participate

You can make a difference.

Nine Bluffton organizations invited chamber members – and the door is open to any Icon viewer – to become the difference.

In a “speed-dating” format Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members learned on Friday morning that there’s a place of them – and you – to volunteer locally.

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce did not speed dating on Friday morning. In five-minute segments, organizations in Bluffton offering volunteer opportunities shared information with chamber members.

Marilyn R. Hancock, 87, died May 10, 2018, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. Marilyn was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Lima. On Aug.18, 1952, she married Alexander Hancock who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1998.

Marilyn graduated from Ada High School and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Pinochle Club and member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church.

Jesse Blackburn says he wants to be part of the community's solution to problems

The Icon stopped in the town hall to chat with Jesse Blackburn.

He had just sent an e-mail message to utility companies who have poles and wires along Bentley Road where the bike path construction is underway.

On his desk was a pile of paperwork concerning a list of village assets – he describes the list as “anything the village owns that has a lifespan.”  This includes such things as fire hydrants, waterlines, manhole covers and sewer lines.

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University baseball season came to an end, but not before the 2018 Beavers became the first team in school history to make the Heartland Conference baseball tournament. Anderson wriggled away with a 5-4 win in the first elimination game of the tourney on Friday, May 11, as Bluffton wrapped up its season with a 21-18 mark.

Registration underway for youth ages 6 to 12

Bluffton Family Recreation offers Camp Laffalot, a camp returning for its second year, and registration is now underway, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

 Camp Laffalot will be held at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday, July 9 to 13.

“Laffalot Summer Camp offers kids 6-12 years old a week of fun activities that will leave them smiling, exhausted and ecstatic,” said Tinch.
