Bluffton Public Library will host a Mobile Health Clinic on Friday, Feb. 9, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The clinic is led by the Ohio Northern University’s Healthwise staff. This is a program that employs health care providers to provide the local community with knowledge and resources to address health-related concerns and to improve your health.
There will be free screenings for:
• blood pressure,
• blood glucose, and
• lipids (please fast for 12 hours for the lipids screening).
Eric Berdin, director of Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs, will share information with Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members about this year's Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition, which will begin soon.
He is the featured speaker of the 7 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, chamber breakfast in the Bluffton town hall. He will ask established business owners: "What would you do with an extra $1,000?"
That's the prize money going to an established Bluffton business winner in this year's BCE competition. Additional prize money will be awarded to emerging businesses.
The Allen County Bike and Pedestrian Task Force will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 7, to discuss personal and community safety for people on foot or on bikes.
The meeting is from noon to 1 p.m., in the Lima YMCA Room 306, 345 S. Elizabeth St., Lima.
Lima and Allen County are ranked No. 1 for the highest rate of bicycle crashes and pedestrians hit by a vehicle, among areas in Ohio of similar size.

Bluffton University’s Musselman Library hosts Celebrate the Library Week, Feb. 5-9. On Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is a health and wellness expo. Student scholars in dietetics, nutrition and wellness will share on a wide range of wellness and nutrition topics through informative displays, practical advice and free food samples.
The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership is sponsoring a Rain Barrel Decorating Contest at the Findlay Village Mall during the Car Show held Feb. 16-18, according to Phil Martin, watershed coordinator.
Twenty-three rain barrels have been entered in this year’s contest. All rain barrels will be on display at the mall on Friday-Sunday, Feb 16-18.
The public can vote for your favorite rain barrel starting at 5 p.m. on Friday. Voting continues on Saturday.
The Ohio Northern University observatory will hold two public viewing evenings in Feburary. Those event follow:
