The library hosts another ONU Healthwise program with more screening options

Bluffton Public Library is excited to announce that the students and staff of Ohio Northern University's HealthWise program are to return to the library on February 9 (from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) for another free Mobile Health Clinic.  

This clinic offers free screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, and lipids (please fast for 12 hours prior to your arrival if you wish to participate in the lipids screening). Participants may speak with Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.

I'm the Adult Services Coordinator.

How long have you been on the library staff?
Five years.

What is the most frequent question you are asked at the library?
Most recently, it has been, “Where are the DVD’s?” We have been moving materials around to make better use of space and to more logically organize the library – you should come check it out.

A Preschool Playtime for youngsters takes place from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Scvhool, 105 Allen St., Jenera. 

The open gym activities include balls to play with, ride-on toys, mats to crawl/roll around on, a mini trampoline, infant toys and lots of space to run around and play. 

This event is free for children ages 0-5 years old with their care-givers.  More information can be found by calling 419-326-4685 or by emailing [email protected]

Dennis Morrison received the Melvin Jones Award during the December Bluffton Lions Club Christmas dinner meeting.

This is the highest award presented to club members. It is presented to a member who has shown exemplary service and dedication to the club, the community and to Lions overall. The award is named for its founder, Melvin Jones.

Several additional member awards, recognitions and club activities are listed in the current club newsletter attached at the bottom of this story.

Part of BCE's Talk Back series at Twisted Whisk

Rachel Davis, owner of Studio Silhouette, 103 N. Main St., Bluffton, will share her story about how she started a business in her home and eventually made the leap to a Main Street storefront.

She is this week’s featured speaker in Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur’s Talk Back series. The free session is from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, at Twisted Whisk Café, Main Street.
