Provisional Certification through Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement program

The Bluffton Police Department recently met the requirement to receive Provisional Certification through the Ohio Collaborative Law Enforcement Certification program, according to Ryan Burkholder, Bluffton police chief.

This achievement means that the Bluffton police department has adopted and implemented state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen community and police relations.

She adds: My grandparents, Ray and Lucile Holcomb, are in the back row, 3rd and 4th from the left.

The first row include faculty members.

Ohio Beef - this is a speciality plate the Icon saw on Main Street Bluffton. It's a Hancock County plate we spotted on a dark  blue Toyota Highlander.

Sean Burrell says something to make the Bluffton candidates chuckle during Friday's chamber meet-the-candidate breakfast. A community election forum takes place at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall. Watch for more details on that program. The Icon will also feature a series on council and school board candidates later this week.

18 supplemental contacts on Monday's agenda

Bluffton school board members will review and act upon a five-year forecast for fiscal years 2018 to 2022 at Monday’s October board meeting.

The forecast is a state requirement of all school district.The forecast was not part of the board's packet. Watch the Icon for a followup on the forecast details.

In other action, in an otherwise light agenda, the board will act on 18 supplemental contracts and assignments. The majority involve winter coaching positions.

Six substitute teaching contracts are also on the agenda.
