There are no excuses not to read this summer. Take it from the Bluffton Public Library. Here's what the library has in store for patrons this summer:
To kick off the 2018 “Libraries Rock” Summer Program, the Library Fun Day begins at noon on Monday, June 4, with an Indoor Picnic (Bring your own brown bag lunch).
Three Bluffton Family Recreation mini-camps are planned for youth, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director. Here are the details:
Writer’s Camp Wednesday-Thursday, June 6-7
1 to 3:30 p.m.
Ages 8 to 12
Enhance your writing skills. Campers will learn from guest speakers, write their own poems, enjoy snacks and take home a writer’s kit.
$15 for BFR member; $30 for non-members.
Pavement repairs are necessary for both lanes of northbound I-75, just south of the County Road 13/Lima Avenue overpass (north of the Hancock County Rest Stop), following an overnight accident. Currently, a timeline to reopen northbound I-75 is unknown.
The ramp to the rest area is closed to vehicles, however, the rest area is open and accessible to pedestrians stopped in traffic.
Motorists are being directed to State Route 235/Exit 145. Follow detour: SR 235, CR 313, CR 9, SR 12, northbound I-75.
In Bluffton we are fortunate to have curbside recycling to keep many of our recyclables out of landfills. But what about our food waste?
The public is invited to a free panel discussion about composting hosted by Transition Bluffton at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, in the 3rd floor Town Hall meeting room, 154 N. Main.
Join Sally Weaver Sommer, Jon Sommer and Wendy Chappell-Dick for a discussion about small scale and community composting. The program is designed for inexperienced and experienced composters alike.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) will feature grilled hamburgers and hot dogs at its Tuesday, June, 5 PrimeTimers Luncheon.
Other menu items are macaroni salad, baked beans, potato chips, fresh fruit salad, assorted ice cream treats, cold drinks and coffee. The luncheon begins at noon at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora.
Elaine Wehri, accordionist, will provide the entertainment after lunch is served. There is no cost for the meal, but donations are accepted.
