The annual Ada event couldn't go on without their assistance

Here they are, Mr. and Mrs. F & M Picnic, for many years now. Kenny Wolke, longtime Ada War Memorial Park superintendent, and his wife, Eva, have a lot to do with the success of the annual festival, not for all of its 104 years of existence, but for several decades. Kenny explains some of what it takes to prepare for the multi event extravaganza. 

It's mid-August and soon Bluffton's population will rise as Bluffton University students start returning to campus for the 2017-18 school year. One of the first events of the year is Fall Welcome Week. Click here to see all that it involves.

Takes place from 1 to 10 p.m. at Southgate Lanes

A benefit event for the Bluffton Fire Department is set for Saturday, Aug. 19, at Southgate Lanes, 9700 Dixie Highway, according to Jon Kin, fire chief.

Here’s a schedule of events:

1 p.m. – Double elimination corn hole tournament – limited for 30 teams, $20 per team registration fee, cash prizes for top three teams, business sponsorships available.

Several items on Monday's council agenda

Several items are on Monday’s Bluffton council agenda. These include consideration of:

• First reading of ordinance creating licensing and regulation of mobile food providers in the village

• Final reading of resolution calling for demolition and removal of a structure at 145 W. Riley St.

• Ordinance setting pay ranges for members of the police department

• Shannon Cemetery update – the first tombstone will be returned to the cemetery

• Update on filling in village park pond

• Report on 2017 sidewalk program summary
