Harry "Bill" Edward Snyder, 89, died July 29, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.Harry "Bill" was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Beaverdam, to Lawrence and Margaret (Bickmier) Snyder who preceded him in death.

On Feb. 22, 1948, he married Josephine Bassitt Snyder who preceded him in death on June 8, 1988. Bill retired from Lima Ford Engine Plant where he was a Hi-Lo driver.  He enjoyed music, woodworking, his grandchildren and riding the 4-wheeler with them.

Lots of other programs on the calendar

Bluffton Senior Citizens will celebrate Irene Baumgartner’s 90th birthday during the Monday, Aug 14, senior monthly dinner meeting. Baumgartner turns 90 in August and will receive a life membership in the association.

Meanwhile, Larry Cress from Wheelhouse, a Christian Bicycle Cooperative in Lima, will present the evening program on the group’s mission. Ted’s Market will cater the meal. Tickets are $7.50 and must be purchased by Aug. 9. The program starts at 6 p.m. in the Center, 132 N. Main St.

Maple Crest elders share lots of hobbies and talent in a show

Elders of Maple Crest Senior Living Village shared their hobbies on July 27. Jamie Nygaard was there and shares photos of the show. At least 17 elders displayed hobbies ranging from carved art to toy farm equipment. ose included:

Summer conditioning programs and 10 days of coaching will conclude this weekend as the first official day of practice for OHSAA fall sports arrives next week. Football practice begins Monday, while all other fall sports may begin practice on Tuesday.
 
Schools are reminded of OHSAA heat regulations and the practice guidelines specific to football contact (please see below).
