The Icon has posted these three photo previously, but it's summer and let's go back to the Buckeye.
Here's three views of Buckeye quarry, where swimming was once a Bluffton summer experience. Paul Diller snapped these photos.
The pool was on the east side of the Buckeye. It is included a bath house, baby pool, larger pool going to 5 or 6 feet, and the Buckeye quarry for persons who could pass a swim test. The Buckeye had three diving boards.
With the flyer for the original Summer Mud program hanging on the wall of the ceramics studio at Bluffton University and with a former student/protégé leading the way, Gregg Luginbuhl’s long-time passion project came full circle in the summer of 2017 despite his passing in the fall of 2016.
For more than 30 years, the late professor emeritus of art at Bluffton University had led a ceramics class open to the community. This year, his presence permeated the studio during the three week Summer Mud class offered on campus in June.
Bluffton council will act on legislation on Monday involving its 2005 water contract with Ottawa.
An ordinance to be considered is an addendum to the 2005 contract. The addendum addresses issues between Bluffton and Ottawa that need clarification.
The legislation states that Bluffton is paid up for all water contracts prior to this year and that Bluffton owes no other money to Ottawa. It continues that both Ottawa and Bluffton agree that no penalties or interest are owed for any prior years.
