Bluffton PTO is having a McTeacher's Night from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, at the Bluffton McDonald's. A portion of all sales are donated to Bluffton Elementary.
And, 25 percent of all Pirate Shakes (strawberry shakes) sold will be donated ot the school.
A classroom attendance contest takes place and the winning class receives free McFlurries.
The elementary receives 100 percent of tips received. There's a prize for the grade level with the most tips.
Online registration is now open for the third annual Ride to Remember, set for Saturday, July 8, in Bluffton.
The bicycle ride offers routes from 2 miles all the way to 112 miles. Depending upon which bike route a rider takes, routes go from Bluffton through Rockport, Pandora, Gilboa, Benton Ridge, Rawson and Mt. Cory.
Registration through July 1 is $20 for an individual, $15 for the second family member and $5 for each additional family member. After July 1 registration is an additional $5 per category.
Cleora Zimmerly, 95, died 7:13 a.m. May 15, 2017, at Lost Creek Care Center, Lima. Cleora was born July 10, 1921, in Monroe Township to the late Louis A. and Naomi Spallinger Burkholder. On March 5, 1941, she married Merlin Zimmerly and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2011.
After finishing second three years in a row, Bluffton High School boys’ track team captured the Northwest Conference track and field trophy this past weekend at Bluffton University. It was the first NWC title for the boys since 2011.
It was Bluffton's 19th overall NWC title.
The BHS girls’ team finished a respectful third place. The girls’ team has not finished lower than third in the conference meet since 2010.
The boys’ won eight first places and Trevor Bassitt, senior, set two conference records. The girls’ won two first places.
Transition Bluffton invites the public to its idea-raising launch party from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, in the Bluffton town hall, 154 N. Main St.
In addition to its launch party, the event is a brainstorm session for future events and project by the group. Cake will be served. This event celebrates the creation of Transition Bluffton, an organization that is bringing people together to build sustainability in Bluffton and beyond.
