University junior spends semester in Spain, with boxing class on the beach, hip-hop class and lots more

From Bluffton to Barcelona, junior spends the semester in Spain

Malika Thompson ’18, a Spanish major from Cincinnati, Ohio, is spending her Bluffton University spring semester in Barcelona, Spain.

During her cross-cultural experience she is immersing herself in the culture, expanding her knowledge of the Spanish language and discovering more about herself in the process.

“I’ve just been learning so much about life,” said Thompson. “I’m learning about the things I do and don’t want to do, and I’ve been learning through my mistakes.”

Carrol Reichenbach, 92, of Bluffton, died April 12, 2017, at Bluffton Hospital.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

BCE branding workshop follows chamber meeting

Dan Klear of Superior Energy Solutions is Friday’s Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast speaker, according to Phil Zimmerly, chamber director.

Following the chamber meeting Marathana Prothro, Bluffton University assistant professor of communication, will provide a Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs workshop on business branding.

Abbie Parkins has 4 RBIs against Leipsic

Bluffton High School's softball team defeated Liberty Benton and Leipsic in non-conference games this week.

Bluffton beat Liberty Benton 6-5 on the road, and Leipsic 11-1 at home. The wins move BHS to 6-1.

Libby Schaadt (6-1) was Bluffton’s winning pitcher in both games.

Bluffton University will host its annual Academic Awards Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Students to be honored include graduating seniors in the Honors Program, C. Henry Smith Scholars and Pi Delta inductees, as well as departmental award recipients, who are recognized as distinguished senior scholars. In addition, several seniors will present on their departmental honors projects.
