Driving Education Excellence: Securing the Future for All Ohio Students.

That’s the title of a program being implemented this winter by the Ohio Department of Education.

Greg Denecker, Bluffton school superintendent, provided details in the winter school newsletter sent to district residents last week.

SHANNON Service Club and Bluffton Senior Center

S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center launch the 2017 Bluffton garage sale season at the end of February. There's even a chicken barbecue tossed in.

University dietetics program partners with The Food Store

Each year, Bluffton University food and nutrition majors are asked to think outside of the recipe card to develop nutritious meals for Lunch and Learn.

The healthy-eating series, which is open to the community, includes a 20-30 minute cooking demonstration, nutritional information and a full meal. This year, the students are getting some extra help thanks to a sponsorship from The Food Store, located on Main Street in Bluffton.

However, adult volleyball still on the schedule

Bluffton Family Recreation will cancel the following programs for Thursday, Feb. 9, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

•  K-3 basketball from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
• HS boys indoor soccer leagues
• Children's swim lessons (held at the Comfort Inn).

However, adult volleyball will take place.

Due to construction the Riley Street bridge between Spring and Garmatter streets will be closed from 1 to 6 p.m. today, (Thursday, Feb. 9).
