Bluffton school board re-appointed Brad Fruchey to a three-year term on the Apollo Joint Vocational School District board during the Dec. 19 Bluffton board meeting.

His new term begins Jan. 11, 2017.

In other board action, the board set its 2017 reorganization meeting for 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9.

A supplemental contract was offered to Lindsey Buettner as assistant middle school cheerleader advisor.

Elementary students collect change for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Bluffton elementary students generated over $3,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a Christmas project this month.

The grand total collected was $3,172.44.

According to Christine McCafferty, reading intervention tutor, elementary students collected change for three weeks in November and December.

The project was titled “Pennies for Patients."

Money was collected by grade level. The winning grade, in this case Kindergarteners, won a pizza party.

History: Theory and Application class

Students in Dr. Perry Bush’s History: Theory and Application class are encouraged to get lost in their work in order to “feel the peculiar sensation of time travel.”

Yeah, baby, it's cold outside.

According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, the warmest reading on his thermometer in the pas 15 days was 36 degrees on Dec. 6. And, since that date th lowest temperatures hovered between 5 and 32 degrees.
