Justin Kauffman, a Bluffton sophomore biology major from Smithville, and recipient of a 2017 Summer Discovery Grant, gained vocational experience in the field of dentistry this summer by volunteering at a free community clinic.
Kauffman has been interested in dentistry since the eighth grade.
“For my grant, I job shadowed and assisted the dentists at the Viola Startzman Clinic,” said Kauffman. “I mainly focused on learning and grasping basic dentistry concepts as well as helping with tasks such as sterilizing the rooms and equipment.”
On Friday afternoon the above Pirate insignia became a fixture to the Jackson Street doors of BHS. One very interesting observation is to look at the doorway from the "inside." You'll see that view in the next photo - nothing there! That's part of the design.
Bluffton University will celebrate Homecoming weekend Oct. 7 and 8.
A free picnic lunch will be available for alumni in an alumni tailgate tent at Emery Sears Athletic Complex from noon until 1:30 p.m., when the Homecoming game against Anderson will begin.

John Ogden, MD, a neurosurgeon has joined Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System. Neurosurgical Associates of Northwest Ohio is located at 1641 North Lake Drive in Findlay.
Dr. Ogden completed medical school at The University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tuscon, Arizona. He fulfilled his internship and neurosurgery residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team waited out an hour and 10 minute storm delay and then gave undefeated Otterbein University all it could handle for 60 minutes before the Cardinals pulled away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017. Bluffton fell to 1-5 on the season while the visitors improved to 6-0-1 overall following the 4-1 victory.
