 The Pandora United Methodist Church will be host a free community meal on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. 

The meal this month is provided by Missions and Friends. The menu will be baked potato bar, hamburger sandwich, salad, applesauce, cake, punch/coffee.

College Avenue between Main and Railroad streets is closed for up to two weeks for a gas line replacement project. The current 2-inch main trunk line under Riley Creek will be replaced with an 8-inch line, extending 600 feet. Dominion Gas will  bore under the creek to pull the line through.

At the June meeting of the Bluffton University Board of Trustees, board chair Kent Yoder announced that Dr. James M. Harder, Bluffton’s ninth president, has shared his plans to retire on June 30, 2018, after serving in that role for 12 years.

“President Harder is a servant leader who faithfully continues to carry Bluffton University into the 21st century during a time of significant change in higher education,” said Yoder.

Former Bluffton resident Willadene Hartzler Keeney died on June 13, 2017, in North Newton, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Keeney, her parents Raymond and Nora Hartzler, her brothers Ellwyn and Wilton, her sister Donna, and a brother, Harold, who died in infancy.

Ashley Klingler, Stacy Stumbaugh join the staff

Ashley Klingler and Stacy Stumbaugh grew up in the same neighborhood, are lifelong friends and attended school together from Kindergarten to graduation at Bluffton High in 2005. They even share a first cousin.

Now they’ve teamed up as part of the staff of The Centre, meeting and banquet facility, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton. They are assisting the new director, Wendy Gaines, who for the past 13 years served as assistant director.
