Carlin Carpenter will talk about and sign copies of his book "Coaching Football Ain't Easy," at Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., on Saturday.

He will be in the store from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The book's  subtitle “My Triumphs and Tribulations at Bluffton College.”

One tribulation that morphed into a triumph is represented in the book’s cover photograph. There, Carpenter is lying on the football field, refusing to stand up, while a football referee threatens to boot him from the game.

It's another Icon Weekend. The Icon offers viewers 8 pages of events taking place this weekend in the Icon viewership area.

This is a weekend full of events, including:

• Lincoln Highway Buy Way yard sale
• Riley Creek Singer's performance of "Beauty and the Beast"

SPOILER ENDING - Saturday is the final day of the season for the Ada swimming pool. There is no admission on the last day, thanks to the Ada Lions Club.

A celebration for Pastor Charles Warren's 95th birthday includes an open house at Crossroads Ministry Center at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.

The event includes an open house cake and ice cream reception at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4. The event is open to the public.

Lima Central Catholic girls' golf team defeated Bluffton girls 188 to 197 on Wednesday.

The Bluffton Shuffleboard Club hosts the last state tournament of the season at Buckeye Park next week, according to Steve Slaughterbeck of the club.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.
