Six youth were confirmed on  May 7, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera. 

 The class members are Kwynn Reis Alge, Kylie Ann Beagle, Logan Grant Below, Austin James Rausch, Cierra Colleen VanDermark and Cameron Michael VanDermark. 

 

Sam Fruchey, Bluffton HS grad, helped the Malone University Pioneers notch their first postseason victory since 2002 last week. She was named Malone's athlete of the week.

The freshman pitcher appeared in all three of Malone's games at the G-MAC Tournament, allowing just one unearned run over 9.2 innings of work.

In Malone's opening game against top-seeded Cedarville, Fruchey entered the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning with runners at second and third and no outs.  The freshman worked out of trouble in the inning, keeping the game dead-locked at 2-2.

Blanchard River Watershed Partnership provides some actions that all residents can take to protect water quality. The actions are spelled out in the current partnership newsletter.

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 25.
 
Thirty-five seniors were honored as distinguished scholars in their respective academic areas.

BVH Auxiliary Presents Check to Hospital

The Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary held its annual volunteer recognition banquet April 27.

At the banquet, the Auxiliary presented a check for $220,000 to Blanchard Valley Hospital leadership. The donation will be used to purchase a second UV-C Cleaning Robot. In addition to the second robot, the gift will also be used toward the purchase of a sponge detection system.

Dan Settlemire is a long-time Bluffton Sportmen's Club member. It's pretty obvious by the annual membership badges on his cap. The Icon captured him in this photo as he fished at the trout derby on Sunday.
