Bluffton council will hear the first reading to consider a water and sewer rate increase to village customers on Monday.

The proposed increase could take effect in the July 2016 billing cycle. A chart on the council packet spells out the rates for cutomers.

In other council business preparations for the 2016 swimming pool season are underway. Council will discuss the pool's heater problems. The recreation committee is recommending that the village accepts a quote from M&R Plumbing and Heating to install a gas boiler systerm for an estimated cost of $15,000.

They are building skyscrapers at Bluffton Child Development Center. Here is one of the student architects at work.

To better prepare students for the ever-changing landscape of careers in the media, Bluffton University’s department of communication and theatre created a new convergent media major.

The major will prepare communication professionals to produce and manage content across multiple platforms including: print, radio, the internet, television and social media.

Bluffton HS softball team lost its first Northwest Conference game of the season at Ada in a 2 to 3 battle.   

Offensively the Lady Pirates seemed to have things going their way with a solid 14 hits and 1 walk to lead the team  to the bases. 

Unfortunately only 2 girls crossed home and  13 were left  stranded.  Taylor Monday led the team at the plate going 4 for 4 with 4 singles and 1 run scored. 

Katie Prater had solid hitting with 2 singles and 1 double and 1 run scored.  Jazmynn Wilson was strong swinging with 3 singles and 1 RBI.

The Village of Bluffton’s Finance Committee meet Monday, April 18, at 7 pm. at the town hall, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer.
