Pianist Alsbrooks Smilth will be performing during the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the Mount Cory United Methodist Church, 300 North Main Street, Mount Cory, on Sunday March 1. Smith is currently a pianoteacher in Findlay and a member of St Mark's United Methodist Church. The former college music professor travels around the state performing at many Methodist churches. The service will be led by Pastor Mark Fuerstenau and
is open to the public.
Heidi Farling of Curling Icon shaves Bluffton University baseball player Luke Hickey in the rite of spring haircut event on Feb. 25 in Marbeck. This the the fourth year that the baseball team shaved heads to raise funds for children's cancer research. Hickey from Toledo, plays midfield for the Beavers. Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), an educational program for retirees, is offering 10 courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays this spring, beginning March 23.
Each course costs $50; the cost to take three or more is $100. Registration and, if applicable, course fees are due at the time of registration; the deadline is March 20. Most classes will meet in the ILR classroom, located in Shultz Hall of Riley Court on campus.

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club of Bluffton sponsors its annual chicken barbecue and community garage and craft sale at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28.
Harlan's chicken barbecue takes place Friday, Feb. 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Centre.
The community garage sale occurs also at The Centre at Bluffton that same evening and on Saturday morning, Feb. 28.
