Go fish!

Over 220 Maple Crest residents, staff members, and their families turned out to fish at the Maple Crest pond on June 5. They also enjoyed a hot dog supper on the grill. 

Luther Shetler blasted the starting note for the derby on a shell horn and the first catch of the day was moments later by Richard Lasko. 

Others followed suit, with Mathias Klausing catching the longest fish of the day at 20 ½ inches, Elaina Helser catching the shortest fish at 2 ¾ inch, and Madie Treglia catching the most fish (eight).  

Tad Steiner keeps his eyes on the music during a summer strings class led by Rachael Lewis, Bluffton school strings instructor.

They are flipping 'bergers and brats at The Dough Hook on Wednesday. The downtown meat market offers grilled lunches on Wednesday this summer.

Maynard R. Badertscher, 90, died June 10, 2014, at 1:20 a.m., Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born Jan, 3, 1924 in Allen County, Ohio, to Albert O. and Sarah Hochstettler Badertscher who preceded him in death. On May 2, 1953, he married Joyce Kline Badertscher who survives.

Mr. Badertscher retired after building many houses as owner/operator of Maynard Badertscher & Assoc. where he built many homes in Bluffton and the surrounding areas.
