Instead of the usual college student attire, they chose to dress as a Pirate and Witch. Both are first year students from Carey. Scott is a Psychology major and Driggers is a Spanish Education major.

Want to hear a good Halloween story? Here’s one. And it’s true.

Most of us have forgotten that the bend in the road on State Route 235 north of Ada was originally laid out as a 90-degree angle. If you head north, you can see a remnant of that angle - but look closely.

Dr. Crystal Sellers Battle, director of the Bluffton University Gospel Choir, directs the choir and Hesston (Kan.) College’s Bel Canto Singers and Chorale in a combined performance during “A Celebration of Gospel: Music and Worship in the African-American Tradition” Oct. 27 at Hesston Mennonite Church.

The concert featured each individual choir as well as the combined choir with guest composer, arranger and gospel historian Dr. Raymond Wise of Columbus, Ohio.

ArtSpace/Lima, 65/67 Town Square, Lima, announces Home for the Holidays, a large-scale holiday art sale, opening Tuesday, Nov. 19 and running through Saturday, Dec. 21.

Home for the Holidays will feature the works of 34 area artists. All media will be represented: oil painting, acrylics, drawing, artist prints, jewelry, ceramics, photography, iron work, work in wood, paper, and fabric. Many of the artists have been award-winners in earlier ArtSpace shows.

Hilty Home, Pandora, will host its annual bazaar on Friday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

There will be items for sale including baked goods and crafts.  All proceeds will go to the activities department of Hilty Home. 

Soup and sandwiches will be available for including homemade chili and chicken noodle soup, as well as ham and turkey subs and shredded chicken sandwiches. Soup, sandwich and beverage are $5, but items may also be purchased a la carte.  Donations of baked goods are accepted and welcomed for the bake sale.
