Several end-of-summer and start-of-a-new-season events take place in Bluffton this weekend.
• Jeanne's Kitchen on Vine Street will hold an "end of summer cook-out" on Saturday, Aug. 24.
“We will serve dinner on Saturday night instead of Friday. Smoke Master Mark Bedell will be grilling ribs, chicken, sausage, and pulled pork. We will have cole slaw, baked beans and corn on the cob,” Jeanne Previte told The Icon.
“Dinner hours are 5-7:30 p.m. No reservation is necessary. We hope to be outside and inside,” she added.
Actually, there are no bats in this belfy, but there are some loose shingles. And that means the roof leaks. The Bluffton town hall clock tower roof is the focus of a Frost Roofing project starting Monday. You'll know the fix up is underway when you see the equipment move in.
Hardin County Fair week is just around the corner. This year’s fair opens on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 8. Ada schools will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 3, for "fair day."

Gates open daily at 7:30 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Open class and junior fair exhibits must be in place by 9 p.m., Sept. 2. The fair officially opens at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 3.
