Elita Smith, a student at Ohio Northern University from Bluffton, spent her summer "vacation" working on a service project in Papua New Guinea.

Every year Wycliffe Bible Translators' Go Experience Translation (GET) Global program sends high school and college students from around the world to lend a hand in mission work.

The Bluffton High School marching band will offer a free show to the public at 6 p.m., Friday, on the Harmon Field practice field, according to Dave Sycks, director.

From there, the band will go to the Allen County Fair and will perform in the band show at the grandstand.

 

Forget the mystery beast for a moment. The most important news in Bluffton to all elementary students and their parents is the list posted on the elementary school doors. The list reveals what classrooms students will be in during the 2013-14 school year.

Here's a report on the Ohio Xtreme 12U fastpitch softball travel team from Erin Prater. The team includes girls from Bluffton.

The team played in the following tournaments this season: 

Kenton Kaos – finished with 4 wins and 2 losses -  placed 2nd out of 8 teams

Polished Nail and Body Salon, 417 N. Main St., Bluffton has a one-day only sidewalk sale on Friday, according to Joan Frederick of the business.

The Northwest Ohio Bullfrogs will host a 10U and 11U baseball tryouts for its 2014 travel teams on Sunday Aug. 18, at 3 at the village park in Bluffton. Contact Ryan Koenig  at 419-420-5450 with any questions.
