Richland Manor employees raise funds for Bluffton's food pantry
Richland Manor donated a significant share of the $4,475 its employees raised this holiday season to the Bluffton Community Assisitance Program's food pantry.
On Dec. 22 Barry Schneck, community service representative of Richland Manor, presented the check to Sarah Shank, food pantry representative, and Mona Reichenbach, treasurer of the Bluffton Community Assistance Corporation. Helping accept the check were Sarah and Phil Shank's children, Zoe and Mason, on behalf of the food pantry.
In addition to the monetary donation, employees collected canned goods for the food pantry. According to Reichenbach this holiday season the Bluffton food pantry supported 45 local families in its adopt-a-family program.
According to Schneck, Richland Manor employees held numerous fundraisers this month, and these continue until the end of the month. Those fundraisers included a raffle, pie sale, bake sale, salad bar and several other projects to obtain the $4,475+ amount.
Richland Manor then chose to give the proceeds to three groups, including the food pantry, as assistance to a local family in need, and to one of its employees who required some assistance.
In addition, Trilogy, the parent company of Richland Manor, provided $750 in starter funds to help in the holiday fund raising. Richland Manor used the $750 as prize money for its raffle. First prize of $500 was won by Jason White, Lima. The second place $200 prize winner was Erica Bloomfield, Lafayette. Third place $50 winner was Stan Zweibel, Lima.
Schneck said that the combined 66 Trilogy campuses have raised almost $300,000 for their own local assistance projects this year.
