Bluffton's next police vehicle has a different look: 2013 Ford interceptor
A different type of police vehicle is on its way to Bluffton. On Monday Bluffton council okayed the purchase of an all-wheel drive 2013 Ford police interceptor vehicle as its newest member of the fleet.
"This is a pursuit-rated vehicle," Rick Skilliter, police chief, told council, when describing it." Prior to the council meeting, council's safety committee met to discuss the purchase. Council approved the purchase of the vehicle that has a sticker price of $37,916. The vehicle is part of this year's police department's budget. The actual cost will be closer to $35,616 after a trade-in.
Several committee meetings and special community meetings are on council's calendar in February and March.
Quarter-percent tax information meetings
Two public meeting are planned to explain the one-quarter percent income tax levy on the March 6 primary ballot. The first meeting is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23. The second is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 1. Both meetings are in the third floor of the town hall.
Several council committee meetings are also planned. Council's parks and recreation committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16. Council's finance committee will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27 (prior to the council meeting at 8 p.m.).
Council's streets and alleys committee will met at 7 p.m., Monday, March 12. Council's personnel committee will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 12.
Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, informed council that Beaverdam Construction Co., will start the waterline replacement project on South Main on Tuesday.
